Diciannove – Previously Unreleased
Koop tickets19-year-old Leonardo can’t wait to say goodbye to Palermo in Sicily – and, above all, to his domineering mother. An opportunity arises when his older sister, a real party animal, moves to London; he follows her to study business administration there. But he soon changes his mind and returns to Italy. On a whim, he decides to study classical Italian literature in Siena. There, he has little contact with his flatmates and also comes into conflict with his professor, whom he believes is misinterpreting Dante. And once again he moves, this time to Turin. His views on literature become increasingly rigid. Debut director Giovanni Tortorici once worked as an assistant director for the renowned director Luca Guadagnino (whose films include *Call Me By Your Name* and *Queer*). When Guadagnino read the script for *Diciannove*, he was enthusiastic and decided to co-produce the film. Tortorici shot this playful, atmospheric character study of a restless young adult on 35mm film.
