Proofs of love
Koop ticketsAt long last, the French government has approved same-sex marriage. And that is exactly what Céline and Nadia are doing, particularly as Nadia is pregnant with their daughter. It is by no means a given that Céline will be legally recognised as the mother of their child, even after the wedding ceremony. The bureaucratic red tape requires Céline to adopt the child, and to arrange this, the couple must prove that she is a suitable mother. To do so, they need, amongst other things, 15 statements from family and friends attesting that she will be a good mother.Anyone embarking on the path of queer parenthood faces countless hurdles and obstacles, as becomes clear in this story, told with great humour, which director Alice Douard wrote herself together with Julie Debiton and Laurette Polmanss. It is a story that evokes many emotions, but above all a sense of disbelief at how outdated and unfair the treatment of same-sex couples is.
